About This Open Mic
The Night
Old Street Records is a Shoreditch cocktail bar with an intimate basement stage, and every Wednesday it runs the long-standing 'Common People' open mic from 7pm to 10pm. Sign-up is at 7pm sharp and slots fill fast, so get down early; everyone who plays gets a free drink. The stage has mics and cables but no house guitar, and backing tracks aren't accepted — so bring your own instrument. It's an 18+ night with a warm, well-run feel.
About Old Street Records
Old Street Records is a two-floor Shoreditch bar at 350-354 Old Street, London (EC1V 9NQ), built around live music, cocktails and pizza. It runs live music six nights a week with an eclectic programme spanning soul, funk, jazz, rock and classic pop — including a long-running weekly slot from the Hip Hop House Band every Thursday — plus EP launches and new-band showcases. The walls are lined with vinyl, vintage NMEs and rock 'n' roll murals. A basement space with its own private bar, projector and full live-music rig is licensed until 2am and the whole venue holds up to around 340 people. Open Monday to Saturday from late afternoon (closed Sundays), it's a dependable Shoreditch grassroots stage for both covers-led house bands and original acts.
