About This Open Mic
The Night
Elysium Gallery & Bar on the High Street hosts Talisman, Swansea's longest-running poetry and spoken-word open mic, on the last Thursday of every month. Doors are at 7pm, sign-up opens around 7.30pm on the door, and readings kick off at 8pm alongside a featured poet. It's a warm, attentive crowd in a working artist-run gallery — bring a poem, a story or just your ears. The bar also runs other open-mic strands across the month (songwriter and electronic-music sessions), but Talisman is the established monthly fixture.
About Elysium Gallery & Bar
Elysium Gallery & Bar sits at 210 High Street in Swansea and is the public face of Elysium — a non-profit contemporary arts and studios provider founded in 2007 that fosters engagement between artists and communities. The venue combines a full-service bar, a dedicated events and performance space, a beer garden, a community workshop area and three gallery spaces. It's a genuinely active grassroots live-music room, with around six upcoming concerts scheduled across 2026-2027 spanning indie, alt-rock and experimental acts — past and upcoming names include HMS Morris, Chloe Slater, Peiriant, The Foehn Effect and Maurice Louca. The mix of art-space and gig-venue gives it a distinctive, supportive atmosphere for emerging Welsh and touring artists.
