Desert Rose plays a melodic mix of country rock and Americana. Based in south Bucks, the band features Hayley Carlyon (lead vocal/ guitar/fiddle) who was originally a country and bluegrass solo artist on the London circuit. Rhythm section Andrew Aylett (bass guitar) and drummer Andy Bunker have been working together for some years; both come from a blues/rock background, as does Kiwi Dave Gunning who provides the slick guitar work. Nick Beel (keys/sax) covers all manner sounds from piano, synths and Hammond, through to banjo and accordion. Our eclectic and varied set embraces some the band’s favourite country, Americana and rock artists, originals written by Hayley and Nick and the band’s country flavoured interpretation of classics such as the Chris Isaac's Wicked Game, Don Henley’s Boys of Summer, Pretenders' Back on the Chaingang, GN'R's Sweet Child O' Mine and even Elton John's Tiny Dancer!
