Who posts gigs here, what fees look like, and why applying is free.
Venues, promoters and agents post open slots. Artists, bands and DJs browse and apply — free, no subscription, no artist commission. The venue picks who fits; we handle the contract, deposit and payout so nobody gets stiffed.
The directory covers 921 live gigs posted directly by hirers, plus 16,000 more upcoming gigs aggregated from other UK sources, spread across 76 cities.
Most advertised slots pay between 100 GBP and 600 GBP. The middle of the pack sits around 200 GBP to 500 GBP depending on set length, experience and city. Weekend and wedding work pays more; weekday pub slots pay less.
A 90 minutes set is the median booking on GigXchange; shorter 45 minutes support slots and longer 120 minutes residencies sit either side. Deposits are held in escrow and released within 24 hours of the gig finishing.
Other UK directories charge artists 50 GBP to 300 GBP a year to see contact details, apply, or unlock the good listings. GigXchange doesn't. Every one of our 921 open gigs is free to apply to.
The platform fee only kicks in once a booking is confirmed, and it's paid by the venue side. The logic is simple: bands shouldn't pay to work. Hirers pay for access to a marketplace that does the contract, payment and compliance plumbing for them.
